Here's the twist: in Vampire Survivors, you have only two primary actions. First, you must move your character strategically to evade harm and position yourself for effective attacks against enemy targets. Second, your character's weapons, which you collect as your run progresses, fire automatically at a set rate. These weapons can be set to fire at random enemies, the nearest enemy, or in specific or random directions. Essentially, the gameplay centers on maneuvering around the screen as adversaries approach your character's position.
At each level-up, you have a choice of three items from a selection of weaponry and passive items, occasionally four if your luck stat is sufficiently high. For instance, you can opt for a whip to strike foes in close proximity, and on subsequent level-ups, you can choose the same item to upgrade it. The whip, for example, can be improved to generate additional whips per swing, increasing their size and damage. You may also select a magic wand, which can be modified to shoot more projectiles at a faster rate and target the nearest enemy. Other options include the Empty Tome to increase all your weapons' rate of fire or the Duplicator to release more projectiles with each attack. The key is to pick passive items and weapons that synergize well, as each item follows a unique enhancement path.
